FICS App brings road accident data into the digital age

The FICS App, using geolocation technology, developed, sponsored and owned by the FICS Group of Companies, help people who are present at the scene of the accident to capture information that is admissible in court and can therefore be used by prosecutors, insurers, investigators and any other parties involved.

The app can be downloaded for free and is compatible with iPhone and Android devices. Users are able to capture data such as the location; date and time of the accident; vehicle details; and road and weather conditions. The app also allows for photographs, videos, and witness statements and contact details to be collected.

FICS owns and stores all information captured using the app. Interested parties may purchase this information from FICS in the form of a report. For each report sold, the person who collected the data is paid R500 (a report can be sold to more than one party).

The franchisee in the area where the accident occurred receives a summary of the accident data so they can approach and offer their services to law firms in the area. The franchisee also receives R1 000 for each report sold.

Immediate access to reliable information helps to reduce the time and costs of investigating and prosecuting insurance claims, and ensure a fast and fair resolution for all parties concerned.

We rely strongly on our franchisees to publicise the app and its benefits to towing companies, ambulance drivers, and SAPS officials in their region in order to promote uptake. Our long-term goal is for the app to be downloaded and used by all motor vehicle users in the country, to the greater benefit of all.
